Design Philosophy

I am passionate about creating environments that deviate from the expected. Rooms that take on a mood of their own. Rooms that quite simply... beg for more lingering. My aesthetic is based on a juxtaposition of materials and styles, evoking subtleties of contradiction. Incorporating exquisite, yet unconventional details, my aim is to hone in on your personal style and spin it into a space that is as singular as you.

Predictability can be a bit stodgy. Despite any norms, sophistication and whimsy cohabit beautifully together. I appreciate design that screams “charisma,” but is loose, elastic, and livable. While rigid schemes work well in a number of commercial applications, on a residential level, I strive to create an environment that will welcome those mementos you brought back from Paris, Prague and Tibet....not to mention your attic’s stash of family treasures. Unlikely pairings are often the most interesting ones. Classic dusty artifact meets mod art, exotic meets domestic, bold meets subdued, 19th century Paris meets 1950s New York. Diversity, when done right, can be spectacular!

The easy route, of course, is to buy everything directly off a shelf... throw it into a room, and voila... a house that resembles your neighbor’s. But, much like a good country drive, the easy route is not always the most scenic. This is your space; it should say something better than “average” about you. Let’s talk about what moves you...
